Lips are the most challenging area to treat with dermal fillers because they require not only great technical skill, but they also require great artistic acumen. Lips should always be treated lastly, seen as part of the whole face and never treated in isolation; more especially in the more mature person. This is because, when we treat and restore a patient’s face to the ideal, the lips will be invariably improved; even before any lip enhancement has taken place. At INJCT Clinic, we only treat patients looking for a natural looking enhancement. We do not follow fads or trends and are instead guided by the lips natural anatomy, simply enhancing and restoring – we will never change your natural lip, only enhance. We are greatly influenced by DR Harris’ Nonsurgical Lip Lift (NLL), because with this technique we are able to consistently produce beautiful and natural looking lip treatments.
The NLL works by gently and subtly augmenting the naturally occurring pillows of the lips, called ‘tubercles’ followed by gentle injections under the border of the lip (vermillion border) to increase vertical height. The unsightly ducky lip appearance is created by injections directly into the vermillion border projecting the lips outward. This is avoided here, because the NLL makes use of the natural anatomy of the lips, rather than trying to create something new and unnatural. In this way the technique reliably and consistently produces beautiful, subtle and natural looking results (Harris, 2020).
True lip filler results can be seen at 14 days. This is because when trauma is caused to the lips by way of multiple injections, the bodies natural inflammatory response will kick in. This can cause swelling, bruising and unevenness. More so in some and less in others. But the true result will be seen at 2 weeks post treatment.
